Study planning

Give research, drafting and editing their own time

“Write the paper” hides several different jobs. Make each one visible.

Start with the due date and list stages in the order you need them: understand the brief, research, outline, draft, check references and revise. Estimate the work for each stage rather than assigning an arbitrary fraction of the deadline.

Use an earlier personal deadline when you need feedback or printing time. The assignment planner schedules focused work but does not automatically model waiting for another person.

A word target helps with drafting. It does not capture reading, analysis or revision effort. Use a writing deadline alongside the assignment timeline so both quantity and time remain visible.

Try this with your own course

  1. List stages in their dependency order, from understanding the brief to final checks.
  2. Choose a personal finish date before submission if you need feedback or technical preparation.
  3. Schedule focused effort, then separately allow for waiting on another person.

Before relying on the answer

Use your syllabus, timetable or transcript for the inputs. The calculator checks the arithmetic under those inputs; your institution decides the official result. Save a scenario as a plan rather than treating it as a confirmed mark.
